As we proudly celebrate our 60th anniversary, the TAGS Awards continue to stand not merely as a competition but as a national benchmark in promoting excellence in reporting. From its pioneering beginnings in 1964, the awards, formerly known as the Annual Report Awards, have grown into one of Sri Lanka’s most enduring and respected platforms, consistently inspiring organisations to pursue greater transparency, accountability, governance, and sustainability.

In today’s rapidly changing world, annual reports are no longer just financial documents. They are powerful tools of communication reflecting not only numbers but also narratives, values, aspirations, and an organisation’s long-term vision for growth. They shape perceptions, foster trust, and help build bridges between businesses and society.

Over the past six decades, the TAGS Awards have transformed in scope and substance, mirroring the evolving expectations of stakeholders and the demands of an increasingly complex business landscape. Today, the focus extends beyond financial disclosure to holistic, integrated reporting that captures an organisation’s environmental, social, and governance and also sustainability commitments.

As CA Sri Lanka leads this journey, we recognise that the future of corporate reporting is digital. Embracing technology, adopting modern frameworks, and leveraging innovation will be key to ensuring that reports remain relevant, accessible, and impactful in the years ahead.

As we mark this exceptional milestone of 60 years, I invite all organisations, from multinationals to conglomerates and SMEs, to join us in commemorating this extraordinary journey at the TAGS Awards 2025, where tradition meets transformation and excellence shapes the future.

It is both an honour and a privilege to steer the TAGS Awards as its Chairperson in this milestone year, as we celebrate six decades of recognising excellence in corporate reporting. Very few initiatives can enjoy a proud and enduring legacy, and I am humbled to play a role in continuing this remarkable journey on its 60th anniversary.

The annual report remains one of the most critical instruments for communicating about an organisation’s financial and non-financial performance. While financial statements present quantitative outcomes, it is often the compelling narrative behind these numbers that provides true insight.

In an era of heightened expectations around transparency, accountability, governance, and sustainability, annual reports are expected to provide a holistic view of organisational performance that extends well beyond statutory compliance. The TAGS Awards, organised by CA Sri Lanka, have consistently promoted these global best practices for well over 60 long years while recognising organisations that demonstrate true leadership in corporate reporting.

Since its inception in 1964 as the Annual Report Awards, and the subsequent reconceptualisation as TAGS Awards in 2022, this competition has positioned corporate reporting as a vital tool for advancing transparency, accountability, governance, and sustainability. In today’s interconnected, data-driven world, reporting has evolved from a regulatory requirement into a powerful platform for conveying an organisation’s performance, long-term vision, and commitment to sustainable growth.
